My research focuses on developing innovative Bayesian clinical trial designs aimed at enhancing the success and expediting drug development. Drug development is extremely complex and costly, fraught with uncertainties throughout its progression. Bayesian clinical trial design provides a powerful approach enabling investigators to iteratively learn and make adaptive decisions based on interim data, thereby substantially improving the safety, efficiency, and success rates of drug development. My team has pioneered numerous groundbreaking Bayesian adaptive designs and tools that are widely used across medical institutions and pharmaceutical enterprises. Among these innovations, the BOIN design, developed by our team, is a groundbreaking oncology dose-finding methodology that has been recognized by the FDA as a fit-for-purpose drug development tool. The BOIN design has been deployed in hundreds of trials, benefiting thousands of cancer patients with its precision and efficacy.
