Research interests

My research interests are seismic tomography and structure of the earth’s lithosphere. Key questions I try to answer include: 1) how do we make accurate images of the earth’s interior, and how do we quantify their reliability? 2) With these images, what can we tell about the Earth’s composition, temperature, and its tectonic history? To answer these questions, we collect seismic data across the world and make measurements of seismic observables such as surface and body waves extracted from both ambient seismic noise and teleseismic earthquakes. We also develop new tools that combine multiple types of observables to construct 3-dimensional (3-D) models of the earth with meaningful uncertainties.
