Research interests
Research in my lab is concentrated on: 1) biomarkers and predictors of risk for colorectal cancer recurrence and mortality, 2) colorectal neoplasm prevention by chemopreventive agents such as vitamin D, calcium, and aspirin, and 3) investigating individual and combined effects of dietary, lifestyle, and genetic factors in producing gastrointestinal (GI) cancer in humans. We are also interested in biomarkers and –omics by applying high resolution metabolomics as an integrative marker of lifetime exposures in studies of cancer risk or chemoprevention, and investigating the gut microbiome and biomarkers of intestinal barrier function for their potential role in GI carcinogenesis, cancer treatment related outcomes, and modifiability by diet and lifestyle.
