Professor Rabindra Nepal is an applied economist with an internationally recognised research expertise in the economic and policy analysis involving energy/environment/resource and also a Co-Director of the UOW Energy Futures Network. He has successfully led and participated in collaborative research projects at UOW involving organisations like the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, the Asian Development Bank Institute, the National Research Institute of Papua New Guinea, the South Australia Productivity Commission and the Consumer Reference Group of the Australian Energy Regulator as well as attracting funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade since his initial UOW appointment in 2020 while his advisory roles at UOW have involved national/international organisations like the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water, the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank and the United Nations Environment Programme. He has (co-)authored numerous A*/A journal articles (in top-field journals in the ABDC list amongst others) such as Energy Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Ecological Economics, The Energy Journal of the International Association for Energy Economics, The Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, etc. including collaborative research on environmental/climate financing. The applied economics and policy focus of his research at UOW has been well-cited and mentioned across notable national/international media outlets, industry/government reports and in reputed research journals across economics/finance. He is a co-editor of Economic Analysis and Policy, an international advisory board member of Energy Policy and an associate editor of Energy Economics.
