Prasanga Samarasinghe

Prasanga Samarasinghe is an Associate Professor at the Australian National University (ANU), Canberra. She received her B.E degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2010 from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and her PhD in Signal Processing in 2015 from the ANU. Her research interests are in the areas of spatial audio and acoustic signal processing. She received a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship under which she visited the Yale University, USA in 2022. She is also a recipient of the 2023 ARC DECRA fellowship. She has contributed to securing multiple external funding including an ARC Linkage, ARC Discovery projects and various industry grants from Australia and overseas. She has industry experience as a research intern at the Dolby Laboratories, Sydney and has multiple past and present industry collaborations including Sony-Japan, Dolby-Sydney and USA, META (previously Facebook) – USA, and the Australian Signals Directorate (under the Australian Defence portfolio). She is a member of the Audio and Acoustic Signal Processing Technical Committee (2021–2023) of the IEEE Signal Processing Society and has served as the chair of the IEEE ACT Section’s COMMS/SP chapter (2018-2020). She is currently a joint supervisor of the ANU Audio and Acoustic Signal Processing Group.
