Peng Wei

The principal focus of my professional interests and expertise is to develop novel and powerful statistical methods motivated by emerging problems in biomedical research, in particular, genomics and genetics of complex human diseases. My research program is focused on developing statistical methods and analysis strategies for large-scale genomic and genetic data with applications to studying complex diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. The two primary research areas of mine are: (1) statistical methods for incorporating biological knowledge into integrative analysis of genomic and genetic data, including biological pathways, gene networks, genome-wide association study (GWAS), next generation sequencing (NGS)-based whole exome and whole genome sequencing data, DNA methylation, gene expression, metabolomics and proteomics data, and (2) statistical methods for detecting gene-environment interactions (GxE) for complex diseases.
