In our lab, we focus on understanding the epigenetic and signaling mechanisms that regulate the development, maintenance, and repair of blood vessels in the central nervous system (CNS). Our groundbreaking discovery of an epigenetic mechanism capable of activating angiogenesis in the adult brain has opened new avenues for vascular repair and regeneration. By leveraging this mechanism, we aim to restore and regenerate cerebral blood vessels following neurological diseases such as stroke and Alzheimer’s. Additionally, our research extends to understanding the complex neurovascular interactions, particularly focusing on the vascular mechanisms that guide neural progenitors in the cortex. In the context of stroke or neurodegeneration, our goal is to achieve neuroregeneration through vascular guidance. This dual approach not only enhances our comprehension of CNS vascular biology but also paves the way for innovative therapeutic strategies to combat debilitating neurological conditions. Our work stands at the intersection of vascular biology and neuroscience, striving to translate our findings into tangible clinical applications that can significantly improve patient outcomes.
