Social cognition in negotiation (the inferential processes that allow people to make sense of each other in terms of mental states applied to negotiation), with an emphasis on: * Heuristics in negotiation (rules of thumb automatically applied in negotiation that may lead to systematic errors) * Negotiation suboptimality (research into why we dramatically underoptimize in negotiation settings, e.g., only 4% of negotiators achieve win-win outcomes) * Outcome-predictive social-cognitive traits (what kind of capacities make good negotiators), * Design of effective training (evidence-based training intervention that lead to better negotiation process and outcomes). Cognition in decision-making (psychology of strategic choice) with an emphasis on: * Legal decision-making (the general heuristics and biases literature, and the dual process theory, in the context of legal decisions) * Processes and outcomes related to predicting outcomes of litigation and arbitration * Debiasing techniques (what interventions reduce error) * Cognitive traits that predict the quality of legal decisions and persuasion (what capacities make an effective legal decision-maker and advocate).
