Research interests

I am an accredited exercise scientist whose work focuses broadly on the effects of resistance training. I am currently researching female specific responses to resistance training, resistance training in perimenopause, and gender and sex equity in exercise science. My research has been widely publicised including being featured on the number one international sport brand 'Nike's website. I have recently been awarded the 2023, Australian Exercise Scientist of the Year award by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). In addition to research, I am very passionate about teaching and education in the exercise science field. I am an academic advisory board and faculty member for the International Olympic Committees (IOC) Diploma in Strength and Conditioning, and routinely perform other international research and education consultancy activities. I have previously held positions such as the Program Authority for the Bachelor of Exercise Physiology, the Director of Education for the School of Health Science, and spent a six month period as acting Deputy Head of School. In addition to broad leadership experiences, I have studied at 4 and taught at 5 different Universities, giving me a breadth of knowledge with different teaching and learning styles.
