Research interests
After attaining a first class honours degree in quantity surveying from the University of Reading, Jeremy worked as a professional quantity surveyor and management consultant to the construction industry in London for 8 years. Jeremy took up his current position at the University of South Australia in 2003, and completed a PhD in law (with Dean's commendation for excellence) from the University of Adelaide in 2012. He specialises in teaching and researching in the area of construction law and contract administration, and is lead author of the 'Understanding Construction Law' and 'Contract Administration for Construction Professionals' books published by LexisNexis. Jeremy has published extensively in the area of the building and construction industry security of payment legislation and his work in this respect has been referenced in legislative reviews commissioned by the Commonwealth, New South Wales, Western Australian, Northern Territory and Ontario governments. His current research focuses on how to alleviate the considerable insolvency problem facing the construction industry. Jeremy won the Society of Construction Law Australia's annual Brooking Prize in 2019 and 2023.
