Jacqui Cameron

Associate Professor Jacqui Cameron is an experienced social work academic and practitioner with over 20 years of expertise in frontline practice, research, evaluation, and training. Her work focuses on complex and intersecting social issues, including substance use, mental health, comorbidity, and domestic violence. She is particularly committed to bridging the gap between research and practice using the principles of integrated knowledge translation as well as realist research and evaluation. Dr. Cameron completed her PhD at The University of Melbourne, where she developed a model of knowledge translation for domestic violence research. She also holds a Master of Philosophy in Social Science Research from the University of Glasgow and a Diploma in Project Management, reflecting her strong foundation in both academic rigour and project leadership. At the University of Wollongong, she is an Associate Professor Social Work and Head of Students. Her areas of teaching include advancing WIL and Field Education, as well as academic research in the areas of substance use, mental health, comorbidity, and domestic violence. She is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Dual Diagnosis, an international journal on co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and co-convenes the Australian and New Zealand Realist Research Group. Dr. Cameron has published and collaborated on over 80 peer-reviewed publications, including 25 systematic reviews. This collaborative approach to working with stakeholders and service users fosters meaningful engagement across sectors.
