The Abbas lab aims to identify novel vulnerabilities and mechanisms of response/resistance to in leukemias (blood cancers) focusing on both intrinsic (leukemia-specific) and extrinsic (immunobiology, stroma, niche) factors. The research questions are generated by clinical observations which are then translated into research projects. We leverage our access to large number of patient samples. We integrate computational biology (single cell RNA, ATAC etc), spatial biology (Visium, proteomics, etc), and functional genomics (ex CRISPR) with rigorous experimental work (ex: PDX models, ex vivo, cell culture etc).
