Research interests

Her research focuses on developing sustainable power solutions for highly efficient non-volatile memory (NVM) and brain-inspired autonomous systems, contributing to the drive toward Net Zero. The Di Martino Lab’s expertise spans from fundamental light–matter interactions to real-world applications in low-power electronics, neuromorphic computing, and advanced memory devices. The research group specialises in spectroscopy and nano-optics, using ultra-confined light in plasmonic nanocavities to study real-time atomic motion in device materials. This enables fast, non-invasive investigation of a broad class of systems, including semiconductor and dielectric interfaces, magnetic and superconducting thin films, and plasmonic ceramics. The Di Martino Lab strength lies in linking advanced optical techniques with materials and device physics. We explore a wide range of memory materials — from ferroelectric and magnetic systems to memristive oxides — in a newly established, fully equipped lab in Oxford, following our move from Cambridge. We maintain a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment, with a strong track record of mentorship and positive student experience.
