Dr Jonathan Sale

Dr Jonathan Sale (PhD, DPA, MIR, LLB, BA PolSc) is Program Director for Human Resource Management (XBBHR) and Supply Chain Management (ZBBCM) and Senior Lecturer in Human Resources Management in the School of Management of the College of Business and Law. As a teaching academic, he has expertise in employment relations (ER)/industrial relations (IR) and human resource management (HRM), having coordinated and taught courses within the discipline at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels like: introduction to IR and HRM; Australian IR; ER in Australia, USA and China in the context of globalisation; people, work, organisations and their dynamics; international and comparative HRM; negotiation, conflict management and resolution, and advocacy; managing the employment relationship; managing employee performance and rewards; managing people and organisations; leading and managing organisational change; HR analytics; and research for business decision making. Jonathan has authored/co-authored over 70 publications and intellectual contributions including a book, journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, and reports on a range of subjects, such as: employment skills and strategies; labour disputes settlement; labour relations policy; labour and comparative law; legal harmonisation or transplantation; worker protection; employee voice and social media; critical skills shortage and exported labour policy; decent work and sustainable development; work health and safety and workplace bullying; access to labour justice; labour laws and labour markets; labour regulation and informal work; social security and migrant work; digital platform work and labour law; labour-management cooperation and sustainable work; area studies (Australia, Malaysia, Philippines, ASEAN); and others. His practice has included negotiation and advocacy in the fields of ER/IR/HRM and labour law, aside from related managing or advising, within industries like banking, energy, and higher education.
