Research interests
Muscle atrophy can lead to impairment of quality of life and metabolic health, while promoting morbidity and mortality. In our laboratory, we study the underlying mechanisms of skeletal muscle atrophy and dysfunction during aging and age-related diseases. We use in vivo and in vitro models as tools to better understand drivers of atrophy during aging and disease. We focus on how neuromuscular pathologies impact skeletal muscle health. We have found that neuromuscular disruption is associated with muscle lipid peroxidation, which may contribute to muscle atrophy.
