The Arble laboratory aims to advance basic and clinical science by exploring the relationships between sleep, breathing, circadian rhythms, and obesity. Using preclinical mouse models, our team studies key translational questions at the intersection of these fields using neuronal-targeting techniques, pharmacological manipulations, and behavioral assays. Some of our current research questions include: What are the neurobiological mechanisms that control sleep disordered breathing? How does obesity affect those mechanisms? How does the circadian system affect breathing? What are the metabolic outcomes of hypoxia at different times of day?
