Research interests
Daniel Biró lectures in global politics in the Justice and Society Unit at UniSA. Daniel’s research interests cover an area ranging from international relations theory, security studies and comparative politics broadly defined. More specifically, his research has concentrated on regional security and international interventions reflected both in the theory and practice of “state-building”, the marginalization of both states ("rogues", "failed") and non-states ("warlords") in the international system. More recently, he is interested in exploring the concept of "middle power" and the issue of grand strategy in transforming international orders. He completed his Bachelor degree in Political Science at the National School of Political Science and Public Administration (SNSPA) in Bucharest, Romania followed by postgraduate degrees in International Relations in Romania (SNSPA, 2002) and Hungary (CEU, 2002). In 2003, as a Chevening scholar he completed his M.Sc.Econ in Strategic Studies from Aberystwyth, University of Wales in United Kingdom. In 2011 he was awarded his PhD in Politics and International Relations by the School of International, Political and Strategic Studies at the Australian National University.
