Research interests
I am a Senior Lecturer in French in the School of Social Sciences. I also serve as co-Head of Postgraduate Studies and Team Leader (Languages & Linguistics). My research in Sociolinguistics (a branch of Linguistics) investigates factors that influence language change in multilingual societies impacted by colonialism. I use social science methods to collect linguistic data on the ground. My current fieldwork is based in the French-speaking Pacific where minority indigenous Polynesian/Melanesian languages come in contact and compete with French and English, two dominant languages.
